Thankful

Well, it is done! The family conference that was kind of taking over our  minds and lives is over and praise be to God-it was incredible!! It was so surreal to be at an event that started as an idea that Dan had over a year and a half ago and to then to actually be at the event with over 850 people from our archdiocese.  It was amazing to watch so many little details just fall into place, like the weather. It was supposed to thunderstorm Friday night and instead it was sunny.  Yep. We are blessed with a wonderful and supportive Archbishop and it was so great to him present the entire time. The conference team and volunteers did an awesome job and all of the prayers said for the weekend were definitely answered.

Belly Buds {vol. 2}

And we are back…promised you we would be! Last week was full of excitement! The Hahn family found out that they are having their first baby boy and the Johnsons are expecting their second little girl! So needless to say, the two families are already working up an arranged marriage between the two babies. Do you blame us? I m sure all of the “belly buds” pictures would be perfect for the rehearsal dinner slide show.

Belly Buds {volume 1}

Ana and I met our freshman year in college and then somehow ended up as roommates, sophomore year,  during our semester studying abroad in Austria. The first few weeks were pretty awkward because we barely knew one another, we were put on a quiet hall, which none of our other friends were on, and we were also trying to get used to life far away from home. And then one beautiful afternoon we decided to go on hike (which was actually more of a walk) on a mission to find a waterfall in the Austrian Alps.  By the time we returned from our little adventure I think it is safe to say we were best buds and inseparable after that. One other huge blessing from this friendship is that she was the one who introduced me this guy named Dan Johnson/ my future spouse. Now that’s an awesome friend.  We were in each other’s weddings and now we are both pregnant with our fourth babies, due within two weeks of one another. She writes a hilarious blog about her adventures in motherhood called Time Flies When You’re Having Babies. She is so real and honest in the way that she writes and if you have never read her blog before, please click on over, she is sure to make you smile!

The Dino Dig

Life around the Johnson home has been kinda crazy lately, but yesterday we had the gift of being able to celebrate Emma and Kolbe’s birthday with a few of our close family and friends. My parents were kind enough to let us turn their beach into a dino dig site (Thank you!!) and I have to say that it was pretty awesome.

about the baby

I am currently sitting with the kids as they devour their ice cream bars and I am pretending that Joshua is not “painting” the table with his. The time is 6:09 and we still have about an hour until I can start the bedtime process…so while Mickey and friends entertain them, I thought I would blog a little about Johnson baby #4.

The Birthday Twins

It is always fun to call and make the yearly doctor check-up appointment for Emma and Kolbe.

Receptionist: What is the birthdate of your first child?
Me: 2-27-08
Receptionist: And how about the second?
Me: 2-27-10…

Yep, same birthday, 2 years apart. Well, yesterday was that special day. I can’t believe that Emma is 6 and Kolbe is 4! Where does the time go?? I know that sounds so cliche, but seriously. I am curious.

Last week Emma and I decorated a shoe box for her to take in to school for Valentine’s Day. Life has been so busy and I hadn’t put much thought into this little holiday but I have to say that decorating that box was so fun and I was getting all giddy and maybe for a minute forgot that it was for her to get Valentines…and not me. I mean look at this precious box:

Happy Times

This morning I was reading Ana’s most recent post about good things from her week. It inspired me to think about the good moments from my past week and appreciate them even more. There is one in particular that I want to share today.

On Sunday we went to the Baptism of my cousin Jonathan’s daughter, Arends Catherine. First, it is always a blessing to witness a baby becoming a child of God through the Sacrament of Baptism. It was so sweet watching all of the kids as they observed the Baptism, they would giggle and loved being reminded that they were baptized too.  Another reason this event  is high on my “good things” from the week is that it was so fun to spend the afternoon with a lot of my extended family. So many of us live in the area, but we don’t all get together too often.

To like or not like

Venting session with Lauren, just trying to be real… feel free to skip this post…just saying I warned you.

Last night I had a hard time falling asleep, my mind wouldn’t shut down and let go of the thoughts from the day. And what was my brain focusing on? Instagram and social media. At first I thought Instagram was an awesome concept, I loved editing pictures of my kids and then seeing other pictures that my friends posted from their day. But it has now become just another thing to keep up with.
