Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!  As I sit here typing, I am still enjoying the lights from our Christmas tree, even though the branches are quite brittle and dead. Today is the first day of the new year and the last day of Christmas vacation.  Despite the short break, we did manage to have a lot of fun and even accomplished a few things around the house. It was awesome having Dan home for a straight week and a half. I loved walking into the kitchen to find him laying on the floor, with the pull-out trash can on top of him,  fixing it so that it would close again…and then he went around and tightened every knob on our kitchen cabinets.  Merry Christmas present to me…it’s the little things.  We spent a lot of time with family and friends and just enjoyed being together.

^^Emma and Kolbe were pretending to be Santa and Mrs. Claus. At one point I heard Mrs. Claus say, “Santa, if you do not listen to Mrs. Claus, you will go on the NAUGHTY list!!!!!!”  (She didn’t get that from me!)

Christmas Eve and Day were wonderful. The kids were so excited to sing to Baby Jesus on his birthday and loved all of their gifts from Santa. One of my favorite moments was on Christmas Even, when Dan played “Away in a Manger” and he and Emma sang to Jesus. Definitely a new tradition. And of course I forgot to take a picture. But here are a few other pictures from our Christmas.

And here is our spontaneous reenactment of the nativity. Emma had watched the live nativity at school and she wanted to do the same at home. Her brothers went along for about  five minutes…which was just enough time to capture this:

Now I am off to enjoy the last day of our vacation!
